Managed File Transfer Features

Web Client

RMFT's intuitive web user interface provides end users with a simple, familiar interface for creating, sending and checking packages (files). The Web UI requires no installation, and meets mission-critical requirements for security, reliability, and auditing of the file transfer process. The Web UI is fully customizable, allowing organizations to promote their corporate image.

Supported Web browsers include Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari.

Desktop Client

RMFT's Desktop Client enables end users to initiate file transfers quickly and easily from within Windows Explorer. To initiate a transfer, users simply right-click the desired file(s) or folders and choose “Send to Recipients”. The RMFT Desktop Client also supports “drag and drop” file/folder selection for superior flexibility.

RMFT also offers full integration with Office 2007 via a Desktop Client extension, enabling users to initiate, execute and track transfers of documents within Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (including send as PDF functionality).

Ad Hoc User Creation

With RMFT's Ad-Hoc user creation, recipient accounts are created on the fly according to a configurable policy that determines the recipient's capabilities, permissions, account expiration, and enrollment settings. Ad Hoc User Creation provides the ability for both users and applications to send files to external partners quickly and easily using a wide range of interfaces, including an email-style web client, a command line interface, and a web services API.

Comprehensive Reporting

RMFT provides comprehensive audits on both user and host initiated file transfers. Each phase of the transfer process can be audited and then logged into the RMFT Database. End users can easily track package deliveries, and Administrators are provided with more in-depth reporting from the administration console. The full audit trail covers more detailed information like file names and sizes, encryption, and more. RMFT provides a number of useful preconfigured reports, as well as the ability to build custom reports with third party tools such as Crystal Reports.

Extensive Protocol Support

RMFT provides sophisticated protocol management for both industry protocols like FTP/S, SFTP, SSH, HTTPS SMIME, and SMB, as well as RMFT's proprietary enhanced file transfer protocols. RMFT's holistic approach to protocol management empowers organizations to meet customers' and colleagues' diverse file delivery needs.

Enhanced Transfer Protocols

RMFT comes available with proprietary, performance enhancing transfer protocols that accelerate transfer times, guarantee delivering (regardless of file size) and increase layers of security. RMFT offers the following Enhanced Transfer Engines:

LiteCopy (for Web-based, User-to-User transfers) - LiteCopy increases transfer speeds and overcomes file limitations imposed by HTTP. It guarantees data integrity, provides recovery, and maintains file transfer security. RMFT's LiteCopy protocol, available as an ActiveX or Java applet, utilizes HTTP/S over port 80.

FastCopy (for Host-to-Host transfers) - The FastCopy protocol is engineered for WAN transfers, where guaranteed delivery and file integrity are business-critical requirements. FastCopy-enabled transfers offer encryption, block-level recoverability, data integrity assurance, and CRC Checksums. Full bandwidth control, compression and pre-and-post-processing make sure that your transfers are accomplished as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Security Options

RMFT maintains high data security standards by offering authentication and access control, encryption, digital signatures, and integration with third-party security solutions (virus protection, watermarking, content inspection, etc.). Additionally, RMFT may be configured with a DMZ front-end, for two-tiered security architecture.

Authentication and Access Control - RMFT Administrator can define how users gain access their RMFT accounts and respective files. Predefined and configurable authentication policies - user/group membership restrictions, password validation, and security certificates can all be required.

Encryption – RMFT addresses various encryption requirements, both at the file and transfer level. RMFT transfer and file-level encryption methods include both "shared secret" and public key-based options, using RC4, DES/3, and AES algorithms. RMFT's SSL session encryption establishes a secure connection between the browser and the web server via HTTP/S.

Digital Signatures - Digital signatures provide data tampering protection and non-repudiation. Recipients can confirm message origination and verify that files weren't altered in transit. RMFT client applications let users automatically digitally sign files, while administrators can enforce a system policy to reject files with unverifiable signatures.

DMZ Front End – The DMZ Front End is a two-tiered solution offering increased protection from malicious attacks and infiltration. On the DMZ server, file manipulation, signature verification and virus scanning can take place before files reach your intranet. All RMFT sessions are outbound, server (intranet), eliminating the need for inbound ports to be opened.

Web Services API

The RMFT Web Service enables organizations to integrate RMFT functionality with internal business processes or third party applications. The web service architecture consists of a single SOAP web service that provides the various data objects required for application integration.

The API addresses both file transfer processes and administration tasks - the simplicity of the integration makes sure that the integrating application does not require ANY RMFT component installed. All RMFT web services APIs are exposed via standard WSDL.

Scheduling, Automation and File Processing Options

RMFT provides extensive file transfer automation and scheduling options:

Scheduling - Transfers can be scheduled to run periodically, at a specific point in time, or triggered by a third-party application or event.

Automation - Easy to set-up hot folders allow administrators to automate file transfers from any network share, based on a number of configurable filters or conditions.

RMFT for SharePoint®

SharePoint's growth as an Enterprise content repository and collaboration destination is unquestionable. Automating the migration of files into and out of SharePoint presents certain challenges. The RMFT SharePoint Connector provides transfer automation between SharePoint and other applications and systems, such as FTP servers, mainframes or other document systems, over all common protocols.
