Web Deployment and Content Distribution using RepliWeb R-1

Web Deployment and Content Distribution using RepliWeb R-1 Replace Site Server - Replace MS Site Server Publishing with Content Distribution Manager. Read how RepliWeb's R-1 Distribution Manager can be used to a replace Microsoft's Site Server Publishing functionality.

Overview

R-1 is a centralized, high-level, one-to-many file distribution system, engineered to perform in complex and dynamic IP networks (LAN, WAN, Internet, eCDN, satellite based, over Unicast and Multicast). R-1 provides unattended, Center-to-Edge content deployment and synchronization that scales in volume of data, number of processes and number of target machines, employing cross-platform server environments (Microsoft WindowsTM, UNIX).

R-1 distribution is multicast enabled with a powerful unicast complement. Integrated Network AwarenessTM technology allows R-1 to optimize distribution policies based on the available network infrastructure (multicast, unicast & hybrid networks), for "Application Level Multicast" functionality.

File Distribution (One-to-Many) Topology - Web Deployment and Content Distribution using RepliWeb R-1
R-1 Distribution Topology

R-1 differs from conventional one-to-many solutions by taking the responsibility for resource intensive tasks related to critical distribution. R-1 Business Intelligence dictates policies based on content-value, transport-cost metrics and network resources, as well as other configurable parameters.

R-1 protects IT investments. Enterprises are able to leverage existing IT resources, as R-1 is a software only solution that does not require specialized hardware or network infrastructure.

R-1's adaptive architecture and powerful management capabilities provide IT departments with a powerful tool to achieve higher levels of productivity and operational efficiency.

Benefits & Highlights

IIS Metabase replication IIS Metabase
Maintaining IIS 6.0 Metabase is a critical component of Windows-based portal environments. Often Metabase definition updates are achieved by manually logging into production Web Servers. This labor-intensive process can be costly, error prone and offers no unified reporting or documentation. R-1 3.5 completely automates the replication of IIS6 Metabase, providing guaranteed delivery, strict security policies and full reporting of when updates were performed. With R-1 3.5, the replication of Metabase definitions to remote servers can becomes an integral part of the content lifecycle.

SSL
R-1 is a completely secured distribution and synchronization solution. R-1's security mechanisms allow using the Internet and Internet-based VPNs and WANs as an efficient distribution channel, without the concerns of data loss, pilferage or malicious impersonation. R-1 uses SSL end-to-end, making integration with other systems seamless.

Rollback
R-1's Rollback functionality provides a means of effectively undoing the effects of multiple replications and distributions on a target system to a user-specified 'point-in-time'. This allows system administrators to undo the changes carried out by a one-time, scheduled, or continuous update R-1 job, providing Disaster Recovery and Rollback from unsuccessful publishing.

Failover

R-1 now provides IT administrators the ability to create a backup system for the R-1 Center, acting as a failover server. The Failover functionality offloads R-1 configuration files and jobs information to a standby server that will act as a failover server when the need arises.

Event Driven Replication
R-1's Continuous Update event-driven replication, significantly improves performance in projects requiring immediate data consolidation. The RepliWeb Event Driven Agent - REDA is an event driven process - not a device driver - that detects, collects, and filters the events on the source data that are relevant to each of the distribution targets - subsequently directing how R-1 responds to the events.

Through the implementation of the REDA over a scheduled distribution solution, R-1's Continuous Update overcomes the pitfalls of standard real-time replication solutions by regularly performing a full analysis and repair of the target system(s) involved at fixed intervals. The REDA framework allows it to be aware of the number of events generated, ensuring that a flood of events does not overload the system - If such a scenario does present itself, the REDA forces a full synchronization ensuring that a system is always up to date.

Unique Architecture
Minimize distribution time by resolving the minimum amount of data that need to be transferred to each of the distribution targets. High-level, non-intrusive application - installation on production servers does not require reboot or taking applications off-line. No dedicated hardware required. Remote Management and control interfaces. Advanced, highly-configurable job scheduling.

Business Intelligence
True edge synchronization - not only loads, but deletes data at target machines. Transport optimization computed on-the-fly on a per edge-node basis. Patent pending data modeling for determining differences between core and edge data volumes. Make recovery decisions based on network events to ensure correct data distribution from source to target.

Infrastructure
Platform Independent - supports most major operating systems. Rich reporting capabilities. Integration with third-party multicast transport engines. End-to-End authentication and security

Multicast and Unicast
Optimize distribution policies based on the available network infrastructure - Multicast, Unicast & hybrid networks. Accelerated, one-to-many data replication by using parallel data streams and maximizing network throughput. Differential transfer algorithms distribute deltas between source and target file-systems.
